FROM is a Kent County distribution site for thee Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), a Federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, by providing them with emergency food and nutrition assistance at no cost. It provides food and administrative funds to States to supplement the diets of these groups.
Who Qualifies for Food Commodities
Kent County families who at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (see the chart below for income guidelines) or are in need of food are eligible for Commodities.
Depending on what food items are available to us from the USDA, the distribution may consist of canned and frozen meat, canned vegetables, dry milk, peanut butter, vegetable oil and/or cereal. The picture on the right is an example of what a family will receive during the Commodities Distribution (actual food may vary each distribution).
When is Food Commodities Distribution?
In 2019, Food Commodities will take place at the FROM Food Pantry on the following dates
Jan 9-11 Mar 6-8 April 10-12 Jun 5-7 July 10-12 Sept 4-6
Oct 9-11 Dec 4-6
(Wednesday 5:00-7:00 pm; Thurs 2:00-4:30 pm and Fri 10:00 am – noon)
