Healthy Food Policy

Flat River Outreach Ministries (FROM) believes everyone has the right to access good food. Our Food Programs will provide foods that are good; fresh, healthy, sustainable, and that support local producers. We will use these guiding values for purchasing, accepting donations, and community education.

Healthy Focus

FROM’s Healthy Food Programs will focus on foods that are healthy and nutritious. Focusing on healthy foods help prevent long-term illness, such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease, and also improve mental health, social relationships, and overall well-being. Our foods will follow the Dietary Guidelines for Healthy Americans.

Food As Long-Term Change

FROM has a responsibility to address the root causes of food insecurity. Change starts right here in our Health Food Programs. Addressing root causes includes community food education, offering health screenings, purchasing from local farmers, CSA’s, connecting people with resources, supporting healthy social relationships, and participating in community collaborations that align with these values.
